Corporate finance is a niche of finance that deals with financial questions related to corporations. 

The main goal of every company should be stockholders wealth maximization, but to achieve that many other financial questions should be solved: effective capital structure, how to raise capital, investment management, M&A and other. All such questions are examined by corporate finance.  

Finance of corporations is almost complete science and there are many books written on this topic. Every CFO or even CEO should understand the mechanics of corporate finance and also understand how to manage cash flows to maximize company’s profits.
