    Investment management business is a large part of a financial industry and is very important for investment banks and other investment companies because investment management business has quite good profitability. Investment management business can be divided in two types: active management when investment products are created and a lot of marketing is used to distribute them and passive investment management when investment portfolios are made to follow some index as close as is possible.

     

    Investment management business includes investment management consulting, investment fund management, and management of pension funds. Management of private investment portfolios or management of other asset portfolios as real estate investment management also may be included.
